Today is effectively my last day working in my office and working downtown Vancouver. I walked around my neighborhood at 6:30am this morning and took some pictures of my office for posterity.
As I mentioned before, I’ll miss things about this job. Having a full sized office, in Vancouver is rare especially at 26. I will mostly work from home and from my car in the new place.
For some reason, 5 years ago, I started putting coffee cups from trendy independent shops/local chains on my desk. Not sure why.

Pretty place. I need to get up there (and Washington, and Oregon...).

Vancouver looks a lot like Toronto to me.

Leaving a job is always bittersweet, but the sense of relief that the projects that consumed your working hours are now someone else’s problem is so very welcome.
Lovely pictures. Good luck with your next adventure.

You know, given the crazy driver and the increasing crime rate, I’m going to agree with you there

Wait. Do we have the crazy drivers and crime rate or do you?
If you think that drivers and crime are better here, you’d be sorely mistaken.

That’s a shame, I loved Toronto when I visited....oh dear heavens that was 18 years ago.
The one downside at the time: the outdoor workers were on strike, so I couldn’t take one of the public ferries to the islands, and Chinatown was just horrific. The stench of all those trash bags piled up (and I assume the aroma in Chinatown is normally pretty strong) was something to behold, but not something to linger around.
But the people were great, and I loved the diversity (Indianapolis is not exactly a hotbed of global culture).

Toronto does.
no, its gotten a lot worse in TO. every other day it seems another shooting/van/terror attack. Bikes stolen left, right, center. People getting assaulted.
not to mention, everyone is forgetting how to drivel.. they are handing out the permits in a fucking cereal box now I swear.

yeah, an OK raise. Largeish car allowance too, which was a big selling point. Also, crazy close to my house. Like a 20 minute drive compared to over an hour like now.

Congratulations. Vancouver looks great — I keep saying that I’m going to take the middle son up there one day since he races outside Seattle every summer , but we never seem to make it.

Yeah. Commuting when gas for my car is $1.80L is no fun.

I might actually like my M5 less with my 80 mile commute if gas was 1.80.
I get it around 1.35 (91 octane) right now , because I commute to another town for work.

Only 94 octane was that. Regular was high $1.50's

you might want to hide that from Miss Mercedes
